Summer Activities

Summer At Lake Tahoe

When the snow recedes Lake Tahoe completely changes character and becomes all about the water; beaches; boats; jet skis; paddle boards; sail boards; kitesurfing and river rafting. For those that still crave the land, the ski resorts transform in to summer-time playgrounds with extensive mountain biking and hiking. And for the avid golfer, you’ll find more courses than you can possibly imagine - or have time to play. It’s all here and much of it can be had right on our doorstep in and around Incline.

Incline’s Beaches

Just a few minutes east of Incline you’ll find the spectacular Sand Harbor. This is a public beach, open to all, with extensive parking, and in an amazing setting of natural beauty. On the way to Sand Harbor you also pass Hidden Beach. Another public beach, Hidden Beach has only roadside parking, is much quieter and crowd free.

Incline Village also has three “Private” beaches: Burnt Cedar; Incline and Ski Beach, within easy walking distance from the condo and just minutes away by car (if you have a lot of beach toys to pack). The private beaches require an IVGID pass to enter. As property owners, we get a limited number of these for guest use each year - so you should check with us about their availability.

Ski beach and Sand Harbor both offer boat ramps. Burnt Cedar features a heated swimming pool with poolside bar service. Click on the links in the panel to the left to find out more about each beach. Click on the maps above to open larger versions.

Jet Ski, Boat, Board & Equipment Rental

Incline offers many watercraft and equipment rental locations. Perhaps the most comprehensive is Action Watersports (775-831-4386). They offer boat; jet skis; kayak and paddle boards for rent as well as tours and lessons. They also offer parasailing and fishing excursions on the lake. Also located in incline and another good option for boat rental is Lake Tahoe Boat Rentals (888-312-1116).

A short drive away in Kings Beach you’ll find Full Throttle Tahoe (530-546-8774) offering boat and jet ski rental  and North Tahoe Watersports Inc. (530-546-9253) offering jet skis and other personal watercraft along with paddle boards. Also specializing in labor intensive watercraft and especially paddle boards is Tahoe Paddle & Oar (530-581-3029).

River Rafting

River Rafting is fantastic fun for the whole family or any other group. There are usually minimum age and height restrictions - so check these when you make your reservation. At Lake Tahoe the rafting takes place on the Truckee River, NOT the lake ! There are three locations nearby: Truckee River Rafting in Tahoe City (530-583-1111); Truckee River Raft Co., also in Tahoe City (530-583-0123) and Tributary Whitewater Tours, located just east of Truckee (800-672-3846).

Mountain Biking

Mountain biking is big at Lake Tahoe in the summer. Many of the ski resorts turn in to mountain bike playgrounds as the snow dissipates. Check out the websites listed on the Winter page for more details.

There are a vast number of trails around the lake suitable for all levels of rider. The following article may provide you a place to start investigating... Lake Tahoe Mountain Biking: Beginner to Advanced.

The popular Flume Trail starts on the Eastern edge of Incline Village.  The Tahoe Rim Trail is also very close to us. Click on the map to the right to view a larger version

Mountain Bike Rental

If you didn’t bring your own, mountain bike rental is easy to find during the summer months. In the panel  (left) we list a few options in and around Incline Village that you may wish to consider.

Hiking

Lake Tahoe is a hiker’s paradise. The ski resorts offer endless possibilities with the advantage that you can cheat and do down hill only ! If you want something more challenging you’ll find numerous trails either in the hills or down by the lake. If you need suggestions take a look here.

Golf

Incline Village offers two fantastic golf courses. The Mountain Course and the Championship Course. Beyond Incline there are many more for you to sample. The panel (left) provides links to courses throughout the Lake Tahoe area and to the newer courses in Truckee - just a short drive away.
